Healthy Alternatives of Kitchen Essentials
In present time, everyone almost 100% dependent on grocery
stores to purchase food. Everything put on shelves in these stores look very
glamorous, leading to impulse and emotional purchase of some food that are
making us very sick. We can attribute modern-day lifestyle disorders like
obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, digestive problems,
thyroid condition etc.
These are SOS food items:
1. Sugar: sugar & sweeteners are sold in many
forms. Like- refine sugar, sugar granules, sugar cubes, sweet pills, sweet
drops, sugar syrups and White table sugar etc.
They all are processed with chemical & bleaching agents. The result
is it became a sweet poison.
2.
Oils:
In present time all the company sold their products by adding a fancy tag line
which is related to the health & fitness. Like- Vitamins & Minerals
fortified Oil, Diabetes Oil and Healthy Heart Oil etc. But in reality, they are
just artificial lubricants, deprived of all nutrients.
3.
Salts: Not only white salt is an industrial
product, salty packed food items like potato wafers, different types of
namkeens, breads, cookies & instant food items contain so much salt. Excess
salt is a big culprit that leads to high blood pressure, heart disorders &
weight gains.
Most of the snack food on our shelves contains all three of
the above. Also, most of the food items that we make in our kitchen contain
some or all the above ingredients.
Healthy Alternatives:
1.
Sugar: Jaggary is much better and healthier
alternative of sugar. It contains minerals, vitamins, fibre and there is no
chemical. Also there are some other healthy alternatives of sugar- Date syrup,
raw honey and coconut sugar.
2.
Oils: we must rethink about using oil for
cooking. We can replace our regular cookware with the non-stick cookware. Its reduced
the consumption of oil in cooking. Also we must replace our refined &
processed oils with the cold- pressed oils.
3.
Salt: our body required Sodium and Iodine, not
salt. we should use rock salt(sendha Namak) 1.5gms per day / person.
As for packed food items, we can’t stop stores from keeping
it, but we can surely resist the temptation of picking them up and tossing in
our shopping cart. Educating children also will go a long way in keeping them
in good health.
